Dorothy Day and the Catholic Workers

Dorothy Day once called the Catholic Workers "fools for Christ." Are they? Refer to Forest and anything and everything we have done in class.
In my opinion, stating that someone is a "fool for Christ" does not necessarily has a negative connotation. In hearing that statement, that the Catholic Workers are "fools for Christ," I feel in agreement with it. I feel that the Catholic Workers would do almost anything to follow the ways of their religious leader, Jesus Christ. Furthermore, Catholics who strongly follow the ways in which Jesus Christ paved the way for Catholicism may then be considered "fools for Christ." .
The statement said by Dorothy Day referencing that the Catholic Workers are "fools for Christ" can be taken as a negative statement. Because the word fool has a negative feeling, then the statement therefore feels negative as well. Moreover, the Catholics Workers may been seen as being fools because they are dedicated in serving their lives to the teaching that Jesus Christ taught us. Therefore, this statement can be seen as negative, however, I believe it to be different.
I do not believe Dorothy Day's statement about Catholic Workers is a negative one. I feel that the Catholic Workers were indeed "fools for Christ." They followed everything that their religion believed he taught them. They wanted to serve others just as Jesus served them. They felt they could do this by working through the Catholic Worker. Catholic Workers wanted to help others. They did this each and every day when working through the Catholic Worker and it's ways of helping others. They would serve those in need by giving them temporary shelter, food and drink. Not only would they help attend to those who came to their door in need's physical needs, but also they would help give them or find them work or whatever needed in order to get back up on their feet again. The Catholic Workers were truly a blessing to those they served.
