Ben and Madec both know that a Big-horn is an endangered species. Ben is still hesitant about killing one, but Madec is all for it.
4) Madec is from Los Angeles, California. He is pushing so hard to kill a Big- Horn because he wants to put his kill's prized head in his office for show. He is not killing for any dominant needs, but for bragging rights. .
5) Ben, a young college student at USC, is in the desert because the tuition at Ben's college was expensive, so he served as a hunting guide in his spare time. He is with Madec because; Madec had hired Ben to be his tour guide on his hunting trip. Ben's motivation is to earn enough money for his college tuition. .
6) Madec's deal for Ben is much uncivilized. Madec offers Ben a reasonable amount of money to keep his mouth shut. He tells Ben that this was his vacation and he did not need any trouble. He told Ben that he could use the money for school.
Madec also tells Ben he has another choice. Die or start walking. Ben decides to start walking into the desert with only his underwear. He was deprived of the rest of his belongings.
7) Ben does agree to Madec's first deal with money. But he also is forced to except Madec's second deal of keeping his life, by walking into the desert with only his underwear. .
8) When Madec returns from the scene of the killing, he says an awful lie. He first says that he missed and hit a rock. But after feeling guilt, and finally admitted to hitting a Big-horned sheep. A female one at that. So he was still lying, but did not feel as much guilt. .
9) When Ben goes to see for himself what was at the scene of the killing, he finds the truth. He finds the body of an elderly man, laying there with his lungs blown out of him and a bullet wound in the middle of his neck. .
