Internet pornography and children

The Internet has been one of the most remarkable and memorable invention of the last century. It makes global communication possible more than any other device in history. Anyone with a computer and a modem can be a publisher or have access to vast quantities of information from around the world. The Internet was used merely by scientists for academic purposes in the early 1980s, but now over 60 million people use it in every aspects of life: research, games, shopping, etc. However, the Internet poses special challenge to the society. It opens a new door for children accessing pornography unintentionally or intentionally. However, some people believe that online pornography is just a form of personal free speech. Viewing pornography is definitely destructive to the body, mind, and spirit and brings a long-term impact on children's healthily growth processes. Therefore, I strongly believe that we need to avoid children from accessing the online pornography.
Children growing up in our already overly sexualized culture are being exposed to sexually explicit material through the Internet. They are being subjected to sexual material and messages before they are mentally prepared to understand or evaluate what they are viewing. Pornography degrades women, portraying them as playthings, toys, or even pieces of meat. Children would then be misled to the idea that the existence of women has only one value and that is to meet the sexual demands of men. Children also develop a wrong attitude towards sex since sex shown on the screen, under any circumstances, any way is desired, is beneficial and does not have negative consequences. .
Moreover, studies suggest that exposure to pornography can prompt children to act out sexually against younger, smaller or more vulnerable children. Experts in the field of childhood sexual abuse report that any premature sexual activity in children always points to two possible stimulants: experience or exposure.
