Declaration of Independence

I on the other hand, off the record, am almost completely against affirmative action, it actually often scares employers into hiring minorities. I hate to sound like a biggot, but in all actuallity, it over compensates for racism. Then again the true point is to show the connection.
However the idea immediately following the aforementioned is less relevant, really no longer needed in today's American society. Today we really do not have to worry about overthrowing our tyrannical government. With today's checks and balances the second a sector of the government steps out of hand and tries to oppress the people they will be dealt with. Since the United States government is indirectly ran by the people we are safe. And even if a tyrannical leader tries to gain power through ignorance of the governed and the election, the good old electoral college, which if you think about it is part of the checks and balances system, will prevent that from happening. But I guess this aspect of the Declaration would again become relevant if somehow, completely neglecting the whims of the people, a dictator was elected, and once again the American people would have to expel a government.
All of the points of the declaration that make reference to a foreign king ruling the colonies are about as absolute as the United States Army using muzzle loaders. .
We need not worry about any king "refuting assent" to any law necessary to the public. A representative or a town official could hold out for a while, but the more they do so the less secure their job becomes in the next election.
A king is not going, or anybody in our government for that matter can forbid an office holder from passing a law, and completely neglect them, nobody with that power and audacity would do so in today's American society. Even if they could find some loop hole in the Constitution, their political career is over.
A superior power is not going to blackmail any smaller power overtly.
