            After reading The Republic of Plato it is evident Socrates has distinct views on life and whether how we live it is just or not. He explains how a just city is important to maintain equalization. What kind of government should we use and where do these governments come from? These are some of the topics described in The Republic of Plato. .
             Socrates has a basic understanding of human nature. He believes the body is connected with a kind of power know as a psyche. The psyche is what keeps our bodies going in a sense of direction. It is something that helps us maintain what we are best at and to do what we have the ability to do. The psyche is divided into three elements that are based on the sources of activities you will achieve at the best. The three elements that part of the psyche are reason, spirit, and appetite. Reason involves the power of being able to think and speak and make decisions for what is good or bad and to help determining certain goals. This may include philosophers or kings in charge of a city that use reason to help them be a leader. Spirit is driven by pride. It is being proud of who you are or where you are from. Not being scared to wear you school colors on the away team's side. The spirit you have is your strength as an individual. The last element of the psyche is appetite. This is something all producers and consumers hold in themselves. They have an appetite or a sense of craving to buy and sell what is out there in the consumer world. .
             A healthy psyche is determined by the fulfillment of each. For example, those who are filled with reason will feel more complete if reason is what they use in their psyche. They will feel eudaimonia, which means a fulfillment of proper functions in their psyche. It is the same with both spirit and appetite. They will feel eudaimonia if spirit and appetite are the main activities in each other psyche. .
             Socrates is strong about not allowing those who are guardians maintain private property.
