In your opinion, which childhood experiences most influenced Essie Mae (Anne) Moody?.
I don't think that there was a particular event in her life that hit her so bad to influenced her. Essie Mae's childhood was troubled. Her family was poor and her mother struggled to provide food for Essie Mae and the rest of her ever growing family after her father left her mother for another woman. Even when her father was home, Essie Mae's parents had little time to spend with their children and her mother had even less time now that she was their only support. Essie Mae's first memories were of an abusive cousin that babysat them and the marital problems between her parents. When Essie Mae becomes aware of racial differences, she asks her mother about it who refuses to answer Essie's questions which further adds to the confusion in Essie Mae's life. Essie Mae has more problems when her mother moves in with another man (Raymond) with whom Essie Mae does not really get along. It seems that all these experiences where like drops of water filling a glass, until one day, one drop causes the glass to overflow.
             2. How would characterize the relationship between Anne Moody and her mother?.
The relationship between her mother and she was very poor. She has a lot of trouble understanding why her mother was marring a guy with a light-skinned black man named Raymond. Raymond's mother, Miss Pearl, treated Moody's family rather coldly because they were not as light as she was. Anne saw that things after her dad and mom separated changed from bad to worst. This affected them more than ever since her mother had to work harder to feed and cloth three kids. Anne saw that she had to do something so she took a job cleaning houses, it didn't pay her much but she figured that even a little amount would help them out. .
             3. How did Anne Moody view the blacks in Canton, Mississippi, that refused to register to vote? Was Anne fair in these opinions? Explain.
