Racism

             The town where I come from is Logan, WV. It is located in the southern portion of West Virginia. In my town we have people of all races and there are no problems it is normal to me, but five minutes from where I live is Chapmanville. It is about the same size and it is the same in every aspect except one, there are no black people who live there. The town is very racist, I"m not talking about everyone who lives there, but it seems the majority feels this way. I know quite a few people who live there and they know their town is like this and they accept it because it is normal to them. They do not feel there is anything wrong with it. I can't understand how people can believe that there are such huge differences between them. .
             One of my friends told me about a black family that moved into the town once. He said that they had a girl that was his age and him and his friends were friends with her, but like after a week the family just moved. I don't understand how things like this can take place and not hear about it in the papers and everyone just seems to accept it. All the towns around Chapmanville have quite a few people of different races and they don't seem to care either. It just seems like it's understood that this town is like that and it is okay. I wish that people could see that these behaviors were not normal and that there is something wrong with believing like this and the community should notice that something is wrong and do something about it. I mean if a black person pulls in to pump gas in Chapmanville people really stop and give them a second glance like "what do they think their doing stopping here". If you ever see this you"ll know what I mean. Its stupid and I think it needs to change.
