Media Essay


             Specific content: All about the bill in front of congress dealing with Medicare .
             Nature of the content: Dealing with one of the main national issues of the time.
             For my media survey I have chosen to survey people about the article printed in the Buffalo News dealing with the recent increase in traffic in the city of Buffalo and surrounding areas. The survey will cover weather or not the people that I will interview either notice or agree that there is an increasing problem with the traffic in Buffalo and its surrounding areas. The people I have chosen to interview are people that are close to me and people that I believe could have a wide variety of views on this topic. These people include my three roommates, my mother, and one of my roommates father.
             The first person that I surveyed was my roommate Shane. First I asked him if he had read the article in the paper. When he responded no to this question I went on to explain to him what the article talked about and the issue at hand. His answer to this question was similar to what I had expected. He answered that yes he did believe that the traffic in Buffalo was bad and that he wishes there was a way to improve upon it. He said this because he is from a relatively small town where the traffic is not bad at all and it was a big change for him to come to Buffalo where there is actual traffic and rush hour.
             Next I then interviewed one of my other roommates, Matt. I also asked him if he had read the article in the paper and as well as Shane he had not. Once again I then explained to him the ideas of the article. His response was much different than that of Shane's. He as well is not from a large town but said that he did not think that the traffic here in Buffalo was that bad. He makes this judgment based on his experiences in traffic while in other major cities. He said that compared to some other places that he has been before the traffic here in Buffalo is not that bad and he does not see it as a major problem that needs to be addressed immediately.
