Lord of the Flies Brutality versus Cruelty

At once the crowd surged over it, poured down on the rock, leapt on the beast, screamed, struck, bit and tore" (Golding 136).              Simon having died and nobody besides Ralph and Piggy seeming to care shows that the hunters have no fear and are willing to kill anyone and anything. Simon should not have been killed, and even though it happened as an accident it should never have been in such a vicious way. Simon was killed because the boys had no civilization or rules or control after Jack decided to form his own group. With Jack forming his own group and the control that they once had on the island was lost they had chaos. With Jack forming his own tribe he and Roger went on making the tribe so violent that I would compare it to Hitler mixed with Sadaam Hussein These two maniacs governed by whatever they wanted and had others to carry out the evil.              can get out of hand and innocent people can have their lives taken away.
Piggy was killed because Roger had no respect for anyone who did not follow the ways of Jack and the hunters. Roger killed Piggy for two reasons: 1) Piggy was not in his gibe and 2) Roger was a very violent person. Therefore when Piggy did not have his glasses and could not see, Roger saw this as a perfect opportunity to get rid of one of the boys. He used Piggy's "handicap" as a means to kill him. Roger did not like Piggy from the beginning of the book just because of his opinions and that he was fat.
