But before the 1979 reconstruction of the library, the main door was near the south and west side of the library, where the patio and the huge windows are now.
The traffic pattern was used on the entrance of the library, where people come in and go out with two automatic doors that were next to each other. Because the doors were all automatic, people could only enter from one door and exit from another. There was no chance for everyone to go in from one door and come out from the same one. .
I thought the most unique things about my building were the atrium and the patio. The atrium was more on the east side of the library which was next to the children's side. The atrium was basically an open square space that located in the center of the library. It had walkway along the sides of its square shape. In the middle were just flowers, small trees, and rocks that decorated the atrium. It was supposed to be a Japanese atrium, but not with any water or pond in the center. It was similar to the Roman houses, where the wealthy people had an atrium in the center of their buildings. There was also a tomb stone near the center where you couldn't walk, and it was a gift from Japan when the library was first reconstructed. There's windows along the atrium that allows people to look in and have great feelings about the nature, which made the visitors feel more comfortable as they were inside of the library. The patio was originally made as a main entrance to the library when the library was first build, but when they reconstructed the library in 1979, they closed the entrance and made it into a patio which people can go in and relax there. There were flowers and trees inside the patio, similar to the ones that were in the atrium. .
The architectural vocabularies were used on the traffic patterns, where the entrance is also used for the exit. The term atrium was used as the ones back from the Roman houses.
