The Crucible

Throughout the play and the movie, it is very closely related to one another but also very different. The word crucible means a serve test. A lot of people are tested for their character and how deeply there love for God goes. Three people to me are tested the most throughout the entire play, John Proctor, Reverend Governor Danforth and Giles. Two of these people died for what they believed was right and the truth and didn't ever lie to save there human life or there soul in front of the towns people.
To me personally Proctor had to go through the most ridicule ever. His wife was accused of witchcraft because his mistress was still in love with him. But to prove her innocents, his character would be questioned. When Elizabeth claimed that he was the devil and he made her sign the devil's book the town turned against the court, not him, because they new she was lying and he wasn't that type of man. The main test he was going to take was about his life. Some people thought that he was the devils right hand man because Elizabeth said that he came to her in the middle of the night with a book to sign. So she became dramatic and they believed her. So he said, "God is dead," and because he was a witch he was to be hanged. But the morning before he was to be hanged Reverend Governor Danforth came to him and was like, I know you are not a witch but for the sake of the town. Sign this document and you can go home with his wife. At first he agreed but than refused to give him that paper. So he died because a young girl wanted to be with him and his wife stood in the way. But because the love he had for her he would die for her and let her live.
To me the second person who was tested but in a different way was Reverend Governor Danforth. He had to find out who worked for the devil, and not out for a witch hunt. Why the court was and wasn't in service he had to listen very closely to what everybody/ anybody said just above anything going on it the court.
