Zhivago is a great motion picture based on the life of a young orphan who grows up and takes his place as a doctor in the Russian Revolution. This is an epic film written by the Russian writer and poet Boris Pasternak who received the Nobel Peace Prize for this historic novel. Yuri Zhivago, the man of many faces and also the lead character in the story goes through the struggles of the revolution, being a devoted family man, and also he has to deal with the pressure of having a mistress, all at the same time. Although many people see this movie as a story about the Russian revolution, I see it as the enduring love story of Dr. Zhivago. By saying that this is the love story of Dr. Zhivago, I mean his love of his wife Tonya, his mistress Lara, poetry, and of his practice of being a doctor. Yuri Zhivago is a great man with immense determination. .
Although he has to fight many personal battles besides the Russian revolution Dr. Zhivago perseveres in each battle, one by one. Zhivago mother dies when he is a young child and he is taken in by some of his mothers close friends. They give him a good home and throughout the years he falls in love with Tonya, who is the daughter of his new family. During Zhivagos adolescent years he studies to become a successful doctor. As time passes Zhivago and Tonya eventually get married and have a child. Life is going great for Zhivago until the revolution starts to alter things. Zhivago takes his place in the revolution as a doctor in a hospital where Lara is a nurse. Romantic and lustful passion overtakes Zhivago and Lara. The two have an intense relationship during their time at the hospital. After Zhivagos term at the hospital ends, he returns home to Tanya.
The revolution brings many devastating deaths and poverty to Moscow. Zhiavgo and Tanya live under terrible housing conditions where there are many rules and regulations. One night after stealing wood to provide heat for his family, Zhivago is followed home by his brother.
