Romeo And Juliet

By a close examination of Act 3 Scene 1 of Romeo and Juliet, describe and explain how fight came about, the different reactions of characters involved and the consequences of the fight. Explain where you think the responsibility for the fight lies.
Playwright and actor William Shakespeare in 1594- 1594 wrote the play "Romeo and Juliet". In the play, there are two families; The Montague's and the Capulet's. They feud with each other constantly and disrupt their hometown with violence on numerous occasions- so often in fact, that the Prince of Verona has banned the two families from feuding in public.
In this scene, we meet Benvolio Montague. He is Romeo's cousin. He tells Mercutio (Romeo's best friend) that they best start to make their way home because "the day is hot, the Capels are abroad and if we meet we shall not escape a brawl. He is saying that it is getting too hot and was going to get frustrated and easily angered and if we bump into the Capulet's, we are not going to be able to escape a fight.
Mercutio gives the impression that Benvolio is bad tempered by shouting back at him saying that he is the one that needs to watch his temper when the Capulet's are there! He says " Thou hast quarrelled with a man for coughing in the street, because he hath wakened thy dog that hath lain asleep in the sun." By Mercutio saying this, you think that Benvolio is extremely moody and I think that Mercutio insults Benvolio a lot. He is maybe uncomfortable with his own temper and is using Benvolio as a target to cover it up. He draws himself as someone who is moody, angry and full of him self.
When the Capulet's arrive on the scene it is obvious that Mercutio really does not care they are there, as Benvolio says, " By my head here come the Capulet's" and to this he gets the reply from Mercutio- " By my heel I care not." When the Capulet's see Benvolio and Mercutio they ask for a word with one of them.
