Literature is a faithful reproduction of life executed in an artistic pattern. It ha the power to set our imaginations soaring through a myriad lives and worlds. It can add something to what we already know about ourselves and the rest of humanity. .
It is written material such as poetry, novels, essays, etc., esp. works of imagination characterized by excellence of style and expression and by themes of general or enduring interest.
A. Prose.
It is an ordinary way of expression of ideas written in sentences or in paragraph form.
Kinds of Prose.
1. Short Story.
It is a brief imaginative narrative unfolding a single predominantly .
incident and a single chief character.
2. Novel.
A long work of prose fiction. The novel as a more realistic literary genre, is sometimes distinguished in academic literary criticism from the romance; but this distinction is not maintained by all literary critics. .
3. Drama.
A story of conflict told entirely in dialogue and in dramatic writing.
A literary work meant to be performed in a theatre. If viewed from this functional angle, the definition of drama as a literary kind is non-controversial. But problems may arise when one tries to define it in terms of the intrinsic qualities which a work must have in order for it to be classified as dramatic.
4. Essay.
A collection of notes about a certain topic. It doesn't tell a story as its main purpose, but it gives an opinion, insight, experiences or observations.
5. Oration.
It is intended to be spoken in public. It is a short piece of expository prose which attempt to be shed some light on some restricted subject of discussion.
6. Fable.
A fictitious moral tale or legend of ancient origin. .
7. Biography.
A written account of another person's life.
8. Autobiography.
A history of a person's life written or told by that person.
9. Myths.
A traditional or legendary story, usually concerning some being or hero or event, with or without a determinable basis of fact or a natural explanation, esp.
