If you were shopping and found a shirt you really liked, would you stop to look at the label to see where it had been made? What if there were two identical shirts but one is priced less than the other, which one would you buy? In most cases, the answers are the same. Consumers do not stop to look for a "made in the U.S.A." label, but instead are more likely to buy the so-called "bargain". The United States had a concept in the early nineties to help the consumers out with this concept. They brought about the idea of free trade amongst their neighboring countries. This concept is called the North American Free Trade Agreement, or better known as NAFTA. This idea has lead to a problem in the United States, because jobs are being moved to other countries for cheaper labor. Little did the United States government know what kind of impact this problem would later cause on the economy.
To begin with, one must realize that the United States is one of the most wealthy and powerful nations on the earth. The story behind how we got to be this prosperous and dominant nation may be best defined by Carl F. Worden when he said:.
In the most perfect scenario, and one that the United States of America just.
happened to follow, this nation was established on a continent that was blessed.
with magnificent amounts of raw materials, like wood and metals, and an.
agricultural breadbasket that could produce far more food than the domestic.
population could possibly eat. Add to that potent mix a population with a strong.
work ethic, solid moral integrity and the freedom to be as personally successful .
as they want to be, and the Founding Fathers just let human nature take its course. .

However, all this wealth has led into a problem. We got greedy! The more we made the more we wanted. As we came to earn more money, manufacturers charged more for the products being produced in order to make more money themselves.
