Job

) Then another servant came to Job and told him that the fire of heaven had burned up the sheep and the servants and he was the only one that had escaped to tell him, and yet another servant came to Job and told him that his sons and daughters had died. Job tore his robe and shaved his head. Then he fell to the ground and worshipped God. Job did not sin against, or blame God for what had happened. Satan had not yet given up trying to turn Job away from God. Another day the angels presented themselves before God, and again Satan went with them. God said to him that Job had still remained faithful even after he had incited Him against Job. Satan said to God that he would lose faith if his health were taken. God allowed him to do this but did not allow him to take his life. Satan afflicted Job with boils from his head to his feet. Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it. Satan also tried to use Job's wife to make him lose his faith. She told Job that he should just curse God and die. But he said to her, "You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?" When Job's friends heard of all the evil that came upon him they went to mourn with him and comfort him. When they saw him from a distance they could not even recognize him. They tore their robes and sprinkled dust on their heads. His friends sat with him for seven days and seven nights and did not say a single word. When Job finally spoke he cursed the day that he was born and said that he wanted to die. Eliphaz told Job that he must have sinned and he should accept his punishment and confess to his sins. Bildad told him that God is totally just in his dealings with men and that he had sinned against God. Job answered that God may destroy both the perfect and the wicked. Zophar told him that God was justified in how he treated Job, because he was a sinner like everyone else. His friends continued to mock him and tell him that he had been sinning.
