Every single day ran like clockwork. Each day was the exact same, yet each day brought us a new adventure. The five of us came together around Homecoming of our senior year. Jodi, Chrissy, Liz, Theresa and I soon became known as the Ya-Ya's - each with our own quirks and unique personalities. Jodi's white Cavalier coupe soon became our bus. The green gas gauge was always on, always leaving the rest of us to wonder whether or not we could make it with the little she had. .
Two minutes before the bell would ring, I ran to our locker, dug to the bottom of the massive pile of books and sticky food wrappers for Jodi's purse. Inside it, I would always find the keys wrapped around Jodi's bottle of body spray or hairspray. After quickly glancing at the clock, I realized I had a minute to get her car and pick up the girls for our lunch break. I opened the doors and entered the free world. .
For the next thirty-four minutes, we knew we would have fun. I gazed up and down the rows of cars in attempt to find nothing else but the white cavi which had blue stripes on the side. Purple, blue and green Mardi Gras beads dangled from the rearview mirror along with the faded green, pine scented air freshener. I ran to the back of the parking lot, and, like always, it was parked next to Dave's black pick-up. I jumped in, started the car and quickly pulled it to the front door just as the sound of the bell rang to my ears. Sure enough, Theresa, Chrissy and Liz strolled out of the doors as I climbed over the gray console into "my" seat - behind the driver. Stories began flying and laughter filled the air as each story was told.
"We almost pissed our pants- Theresa attempted to say.
The story continued on as we began beeping the "girlie" horn on the cavi for Jodi as she talked with Dave like usual. That never seemed to faze her, so Liz screamed out the window for her. She then came scampering across the parking lot.
