Halloween is almost always among one of a child's favorite holidays.
babies to high school seniors dress in costumes representing their favorite hero or cartoon.
character. Then they simply walk house to house collecting free candy. The whole community.
of Garden spends days, sometimes even weeks, preparing for October 31st. Some houses are.
decorated with so many pumpkins and lights that you have to stop to take everything in since it is so unique. Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays, but things have been slowly changing over the past years. I went trick -or- treating again this year, and everything is slowly changing from when I was still in elementary. This year the designated trick -or- treating hours where from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. . These hours chosen do not even go until dark. What fun is it to not even be able to see and appreciate all the work people put into carving their pumpkins? Also, the people have different attitudes today than what they did five, six years ago. This year when you approached the various houses the owners either handed the candy over as if they were being forced to or they did not even acknowledge you. In the past each person would compliment on how cute you looked, or how the costume was original, but not anymore. .
At several of the houses the owners were on the phone and one was even on a lab-top.
computer. Even though we were standing in the entrance of their home they did not even.
interrupt their conversations to say "bye." .
I feel a lot of the adults have lost the appreciation that can be found in watching the.
numerous children as they go from house to house. They also have forgotten to be appreciative.
for all of the time and creativity some of the trick -or- treaters do put into their costumes. .
Although this could be very easily overlooked since many of the costumes are store bought. .
However, they need to realize that it does make a child feel special when they receive.
