The word Home generally symbolizes stability, the place where you expect to live the rest of your life spend the rest of your life, preferably with family. The thought of leaving home and moving to another place is quite harrowing for a lot of people. Well I not only had to leave home-so to say-I had to leave my entire country. My original home, and homeland, was India and now it is the United States. Two places that could not possibly be more different.
My homeland for twenty one years had been India. It is a country drenched in tradition, culture and customs. India is a melting pot of hundreds of different religions and races. Also it is widely believed that India has the largest diversity of dialects and spoken languages anywhere in the world. There are about one thousand different languages spoken in India alone. Each state has a local population but it's the diversity of the people living in each state that makes the languages so different. Each state has its own unique language in addition to all the different races of people bringing in their own languages. It is like a mixed fruit salad with each fruit adding its own unique taste to the entire mixture.
In comparison the United States does have its own culture and tradition attached to it but still I don't feel it is quite the same as India. The main reason according to me is because the United States has diversified because of the huge number of immigrants arrived and still arriving into the country. That is not to say that there were no great traditions and customs, but in India all the diversity has been present from generations.
The traditional festivals in India are another novelty. There are festivals like Diwali-the festival of light, Navratri-the festival of traditional dance, Holi-the festival of color and many more. On the day of Holi, everyone young and old, regardless of caste and status in society are dressed in white. Then they go to each others house and put color on them.
