Religion

There were four classical civilizations existing at the time of 1000BCE to 550CE. From the different regions of the world, civilizations were arising with unique culture and different lifestyle among them. From the four civilizations, Rome and Han China were two significant civilizations that proved to be unarguable intellectual and to some unsurpassed in there accomplishments. There ideologies and customs can still be seen today. Though poles apart they shared many similarities, however, many differences as well. There difference in religion is an ideology that serves as a great example when examining their contrasting points of view. .
The Romans had a practical outlook on religion, which perhaps explains why they themselves had difficulty in taking to the idea of a single, all-seeing, all-powerful god. To the Romans, religion was less a spiritual experience than a contractual relationship between mankind and the forces which were believed to control people's existence and well-being. The Romans had a religion of their own, it was not based on any central belief, but on a mixture of fragmented rituals, taboos, superstitions, and traditions which they collected over the years from a number of sources. The result of their religious position were two things: a state cult, the significant influence on political and military events of which outlasted the republic, and a private concern, in which the head of the family oversaw the domestic rituals and prayers in the same way as the representatives of the people performed the public ceremonials. Though unconventional today, this was the ultimate set up of their religious beliefs, their ideas stemmed from the cultural diffusion they experienced while rising to power.
