Stress is such a big key factor in our lives today! From going to school, working, doing homework, and managing our family lives who wouldn't be stresses? We have so many things to do in such a short amount of time that it is frustrating trying to balance everything out. .
II. In chapter 13 of Psychology Themes and variations by Wayne Weiten.
he defines stress as any circumstance that threatens our well being by taxing our coping abilities.
III. I will be covering this chapter on how to cope with stress and what you can do to help relieve it.
A. Now I will talk to you a little bit about stress.
I. There are many causes of stress such as life changes either good or bad for example moving into a new house or getting promoted in your job and just everyday hassles like traffic and homework. When we get stressed we suffer from:.
A. Emotional.
B. Physiological .
C. Behavior responses.
I. Emotionally our minds can not handle the types of stress that we are going through when we have many things to do. We become slow and not as fast reacting as we usually are because, we are so worried about all the things we have to do and how much time that we have to them. It becomes very draining to the point of which you want to escape. Or instead you end up worrying more and more about the things you have to do instead of way that you can relieve them. .
II. Physiologically we go into Selye Generals adaptation which is three stages of our body's responses. Its alarm, resistance, and exhaustion. In the beginning we are aware that our body is going through prolonged stress and that we need to relax. In resistance we try to fight it by continuing doing what we are even though we know it's not healthy. Las but not least we have exhaustion where your body is so warn out from all your stress that you get sick often because, of your poor immune system, you damage your cardiovascular system, and you are forming explicit memories.
I. Now Im going to talk to about how you can relieve stress.
