People rely a lot on the virtues of respect and trust nowadays . With growing advances in knowledge, technology, and everything else going on in the world, it is impossible to know everything and do anything without having respect and trust in your life. These two virtues have a huge impact in the workplace. The business workplace can be very complex at times, but also can be very simple. A simple factor in the business workplace is that without respectful, trustworthy employees, a business will not flourish, but instead head into an eventual downfall.

Respect may be defined as relating to, feeling appreciation for, or to regard with honor. Trust may be defined as a firm reliance of the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing. Both respect and trust are large parts of society today. They are very similar in context and each are equally appreciated. As kids growing up, we are taught to give to others what we would want to receive. Most people want to be respected and treated well, and in order for that to happen, they need to respect and treat others well because AWhat goes around, comes around.@ Respect can be as simple as holding a door for an elder, understanding the beliefs of an opposite religion, speaking only when spoken to by a judge or teacher, standing for the pledge to the flag, and keeping the noise level down when someone is sleeping near by. Hopefully we all show some form of respect everyday of our lives. Trust is something that grows overtime and can be formed from answering with the truth every time questioned, always being on time to a promised event, and always following through with something promised. With a good abundance of respect and trust in the world, the world would be a better place, and function in more of an organized and peaceful manner. This straightforward concept also relates to the business world in that a business will prosper with being respectful and truthful to its clients and customers.
