While at the same time causes the viewer to identify with the characteristics and issues Frodo and his partners face in their fight against evil. In today's society, we have the same basic fight between good and evil. There will always be someone like Sauron in our society, whether we work with them or follow them. There will continually be one person who desires absolute power. Those kinds of people will always do the right thing and follow the moral and ethical codes for our culture, such as Frodo and Samwise. .
The pathos or passion behind The Fellowship of the Ring is evoked by the characters. An emotion of fear in the story is given off by the Ringwraiths, servants of Sauron, who hunt for the ring endlessly. Also, there is fantasy and at the same time anticipation of Frodo finally arriving to destroy the ring, or failing and leaving Middle-earth to the destructive hand of Sauron. The viewer can also be engulfed by the shear will of the fellowship, each man representing his culture, and fighting together to save Middle-earth. Everyone at one time or another can identify with the pathos concerning The Fellowship of The Ring. In all we do there is a fantasy or fear evoked by the very subject that we are dealing with. An example of this is when a person goes out to buy a car that they have fantasized driving, and actually calling it theirs. While at the same time they have the fear of how they are going to pay for it. Just like the Ringwraiths, always searching for the ring of power.
