Dangerous Advertising

This ad implies that the .
only way she will be remembered by men is to be as attractive as they are expected to be by the advertisers and the company who sell the product. The imaginary problem in this example is that men will not think about women unless they are using the advertiser's product. Ads like these only put more pressure on women to be what they see as "perfect-. Upon further examination, the ad also uses a stereo type where the male is dominant over the female. The female is pictured in the male's arms where he is represented as having control over the women. The woman simply stands in his arms looking innocent and vulnerable. This ad is obviously targeted toward women so it serves a dual purpose. Showing the image of the "ideal- woman creates an idea for a woman that says, if she uses this product this is what she will look like. The man with the women in the ad not only serves the purpose of sexual appeal to the product but it also tells her that all she has to do to get a man like the one in the ad is use the product. The implications brought on by advertising companies are very dangerous to young men and women. They give them the idea that they have to be perfect when their body structure may not allow them to have this "perfect body-. People that do not know this kill themselves through extreme diet and exercise. When they do not achieve the results they want they are left depressed and without any self confidence. .
Businesses know how far people are willing to go to alter their appearance so they create never ending products to reshape the human body. They create false hope and imagery that are making them a fortune. People know what is going on but no one is doing anything about it. We are allowing companies to fool us in an unconscious way. We all know what advertisers are doing and we realize the message they are bringing but we all convince ourselves that it is not affecting us.
