Is death considered the greatest of all blessing or the greatest of evils? I agree with Socrates. Not knowing death and its" result, one cannot fear it. However; people fear death for different reasons. For example, their religious beliefs and personal beliefs. Nevertheless; death can also be viewed as a blessing for many people.
Many religions prophesize that if one is good during their life, than death would be considered a blessing because in the eternal life they will be joyful and free of pain, thus creating the idea of heaven. The goal of many religious people is to be in heaven once they die. For these people death would be a blessing for they will reach their goal. Furthermore; the same religious people can also fear death due to not knowing wheatear or not they will end up in heaven. .
Death can also be feared or considered a blessing for those that do not believe in any religion. For example, consider a situation where a man is very ill and is suffering from the pain. In this situation death maybe considered a blessing. However, in a situation where someone does not believe in the life after death, will fear death because for this person death means the end of everything. .
As the examples above indicate people base their opinions about wheatear death is a blessing or not, on their beliefs and what they have been thought. Therefore the result of death is unknown and one cannot fear the unknown. .
