Frankenstein vs. Therese Raquin

All of these negative responses led to the monster's transformation into a "killing machine."".
The authors of the Romantic era had an idea of themselves as creators. They also had strong ambitions. This idea can easily be seen by the fact Frankenstein was striving to find the secret of life. After he discovered the secret, he used his newfound knowledge to create the monster. He had such a strong desire to create life that while he was working on the monster, he completely ignored everything else, including nature and his family. The problem with being a creator was that Frankenstein set himself against God the Creator. Walton also had a strong ambition to find the North Pole. Both of these men had great ambitions and were not concerned about wealth; they wanted the glory of achieving their goals.
Thérese Raquin (1868) was written by Émile Zola during the Naturalist literary period. Zola believed that writing novels was like performing a science experiment. He put characters of different behaviors and values together and described how they acted together. His work emphasized that people are shaped by their environment and their instincts. .
In this novel, Zola wrote about the nature of human beings "their animal instincts. Thérese was married to Camille, who was not providing her with the sexual needs she required. One day, Thérese saw a "real man- who was attractive and could fulfill her needs. As a result, she started seeing Laurent without letting her husband or mother-in-law (Mme. Raquin) find out. Her nature (desire for sex) took control of her life.
The Naturalists believed that human beings were born with a blank mind, a fact that opposed the Romantic idea that all people were born as good people. People learned things by living their everyday lives. Zola did not find significance in the word "morality- because it is not in nature and not sensual; the drive for food and sex is natural.
