Childhood Isolation

Being kept in the conditions she lived in for six years she knew of no other way to live. At the age of six Anna was just starting to learn what she should have been learning at the age of one. .
Being found in that attic in 1938 was the best thing to happen to her. Once she was found, sociologists started teaching her to do things that normal people do. She learned to brush her teeth, walk, and follow directions. She had not learned how to speak yet when she died at the age of ten. Anna died with the ability level of a toddler, and not being able to communicate to the rest of the world as all of society does.
Another case involving negative effects and standards with isolation is the situation concerning a boy that sociologists call Victor. Victor was a boy who was found in the Caune Woods in France in the late eighteenth century at the age of eleven or twelve. Victor grew up in the woods surviving only on the roots and acorns of the forest. This case is different in that it was nobody's direct fault that Victor grew up in the woods. They never found his parents or anybody else that knew what happened to him. .
When found the only human quality Victor had was the shape of a human. He lacked the skills to walk like a human, he only could grunt like a beast, and he spent his time rocking back and forth like an animal at the zoo. This case far under minds the standards of regular human contact. The first reason is the simple fact that he could not talk, not even one little word of communication that would connect him with the rest of human life. Victor seemed to be put here to "eat, sleep, and escape the unwelcome attentions of sightseers." ( website).
At the end of five years of study and experimenting with Victor, he only could identify some written words, and did not know how to speak. In Victor's case he lost the battle to learn. By the time he was found, it was already too late for him to conceive and of the ideas of humans.
