There are several things that I already know about space put many things that I have learned by doing this project. I know that the solar system is made up of 9 different planets, the sun and stars and the moon. One fact is that the sun is just a big star though, so it is really only made up of the 9 planets and stars. Pluto is also the coldest planet, that is because it is the farthest from the sun than all the rest of the planets, and Mercury is the hottest planet because it is the closest to the sun.
There are a few planets that have rings around them. Saturn has 2 large rings around it that are made up of rock and ice, which is formed by the gravity pull on the planet. Jupiter is also known for a ring planet, it only has one large one with gaps in between the one large ring, and it is also made on dirt and ice. The last planet made of rings is Uranus. It has 11 rings that once again are made of ice and dirt.
The planets are aliened in certain ways, known as the inner planets and outer planets. The inner planets are Mercury, Venus, Earth and Mars. These planets move much faster around the sun and spin faster as they travel around the sun. The outer planets are Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto. The outer planets travel slower around the sun and it spins a lot slower. .
Earth is a little different from the rest of the planets. This is the only planet that is known to have living life on it. Earth has air that humans can breath. Not many people will know this one, but it is the only planet names after a Greek god. Earth is also the only planet that has bodies of water like the ocean and rivers. People have studied the other planets and have not found life on any of them.
There are some interesting facts about the solar system. If the earth was any closer to the sun then our water would boil and we would not be able to live, but if we were farther away we wouldn't be able to live because it would be too cold and our water would freeze.
