Movie Review

John goes to the inventor of Precrime and asks her if the Pre-Cog visions can be altered or faked. She explains to John that there is "Minority Reports" and this is when the Pre-Cogs visions differ. John was never told about this and neither was anybody else. This means that innocent people could have been put away for something that they were not going to do.
Now that John knows that Precrime is not legit, he gets his eyes replaced because there are eye scanners everywhere that can identify him, and sets out to see if he has a Minority report. John heads back to Precrime, steals Agatha, the most talented out of the three Pre-Cogs and takes her to a place where he can see the visions that she produces. He finds out that he has no minority report, and is going to commit the murder, but he does have the choice.
In the end, John does not commit the murder. He finds out that the person he was supposed to murder was a guy pretending to be his son's murderer. Lamar, the director of Precrime had set up John because he knew that John was on to his murder. Lamar killed Agatha's mother and made it look like someone else did it and he hid the fact that "Minority Reports" existed. Lamar ends up killing himself, and taking Precrime down with him. The department was taken down after this, and regular enforcement was put back into place.
The theory that we are going to be examining and applying to two scenes in this movie is the Conformity Theory. Conformity is the act of participating in conforming. For example, we as a society conform to new rules or laws because the government tells us too, even though we might not think that the law is reasonable. If we do not follow these laws, we could be sent to jail or be made to pay a fine. We adjust to societal norms so we can be acceptable to the people around us. If we go against these norms, we are seen as anti-conformist.
In the second scene of the movie, the Precrime cops have just come back from saving two peoples lives.
