             How to prevent or get out of a sexual assault situation.
             Thesis: Sexual assault is so common, that if affects almost everyone.
             Introduction: Sexual assault is a crime. It can happen to anyone, male or female. I"m going to share with you what sexual assault is, the cause(s) of sexual assault, and how to prevent or deal with a sexual assault situation. Or, what you can do if you are sexually assaulted.
             I. What is sexual assault?.
             A. Definition:.
             1. Sexual assault is defined as any sexual act you are forced to engage in without your consent.
             a. It is often accompanied by force, physical restraint, physical violence, intimidation and verbal or physical threat.
             b. Contrary to the belief that sexual assault is a street crime, or that it only happens to females, the majority of people are sexually assaulted by someone they know (friends, acquaintances, family members, etc.) and it could happen to either males or females.
             c. Most common types of sexual assault are "date rape" and "acquaintance rape". Most of these cases are affiliated with the drugs of Roofies or GHB being slipped into a drink somehow.
             2. Sexual assault can be as minor as groping or even touching a person who doesn't give you permission to do it.
             3. Just because a person doesn't say "No!" doesn't mean that you can do whatever you want. If they don't approve, then it is sexual assault.
             B. Sexual assault occurs very frequently.
             1. According to Dr. Sarita Peltomaa, a doctor of Psychology from the University of Toronto, surveys show that 1 out of every 3 women and 1 out of every 9 men is sexually assaulted in their lifetime. Anyone can be a victim of sexual assault, regardless of age, race or income level.
             II. Causes of sexual assault.
             A. Sexual assault is not about needing a sexual outlet, but rather about the need to exert power, control, and humiliation over another. Popular myths about the causes of sexual assault include the notion that if a woman, or man, dresses sexy or appears flirtatious she, or he, is asking for sex, that when a person says "no" they sometimes mean "yes," and that, fundamentally a man, or a woman, cannot control his, or her, sexual impulses.
