Discuss your opinion now of Anthony, Cleopatra and Caesar an

The characters of both Anthony and Caesar evolve through the course of the story. One's opinion of them at the beginning of the story may well be different from their view at the end. As the story progresses, the characteristics beneath the surface emerges, and after seeing both sides we are able to complete our judgment. .
             .
The first speech of Julius Caesar defames Anthony, in a way which also praises past achievements at the same time. He criticizes Anthony's relationship with Cleopatra "keep the turn of tippling with a slave" Act I II L20 and complains about the excess burden he carries due to Anthony's lack of effort. We see from this speech he is very political, choosing his words carefully as he tries to present an objective point of view and letting the audience decide. In this way, he is gathering support from the masses; people who agree with him take his side, and others who strongly support Anthony aren't offended. He doesn't suggest a course of action, but merely gives a report of what is happening.
He takes this a step further in his next speech, attempting to lower Anthony's reputation. "Thou didst drink the stale of horses roughest berry on the hedge" "the barks of trees thou brows"d it is reported thou didst eat strange flesh" Once again employing the tactic of defamation before praise, we see a very different intention this time, he is not merely accounting Anthonys" actions (or lack of) but also suggesting he is above him; the message saying he is superior rings loud and clear. It is evident he is promoting himself by talking of Anthonys hardships and low standards as he adopts a more commanding then persuasive tone. "Leave thy lascivious vassals!" Act I iv L 60-76. His motive is clear now, to sway support away from Anthony and bring it onto himself. His ambitious nature is revealed, he is power hungry and prepared to sacrifice anything to reach his goals.
A complete picture of Caesar is developed after his last speech to the masses.
