Student Athletic Stress


However, the health and well being are very important to students and especially athletes. Student's athletes can't function if he or she is sleep deprived or ill. Lack of sleep weakens the immune system leaving you wide open for all sorts of illnesses. It is very important for student athlete to have the proper amount of sleep; school can make an athlete sleep deprived by the homework and studies that it requires. Time is something that student athletes need but don't have a lot of, and very often the time that an athlete should be sleeping they are studying. Without adequate sleep, a student's brain can't function properly causing stress in their studies and athletics. .
             One of the largest stresses that school creates for athletes and students in general is lack of money. School these days costs a lot of money in which students have to pay and find ways to pay when the money is not there. There is also the added cost of being an athlete paying for team trips, and track suits/uniforms. The stress comes when the athlete thinks about these things and then the money they don't have, they wonder how are they going to pay. Money is a huge issue in today's society and is the main cause of many stresses.
             Stress will not impair an athletes daily functioning if the physical and psychological responses to it can be used positively to fuel your passion for success. It only becomes harmful whenever you begin to feel that you cannot cope with it anymore. Stress is part of an athlete's college experience. Anxiety is a cause of stress, a range of symptoms deriving from the experience of stress, which frequently takes students by surprise. There are many signs of stress, which an athlete can look for to know if stress is a problem in his/her lives. .

             Lowered self-esteem Impulsive behavior,emotional instability.
             Fatigue Floating anxiety,irrational fears.
             Trembling, nervous tics Tendency to beeasily startled.
