Individuals in our society today rely on communication in everyday life, our ability to communicate important information humankind superior to any other animal on the planet. The power of communication is what drives our economies and secures our survival.
I have a limited knowledge of other language, it is so far one of the only things I regret that I"m not fluent in a language. I can however speak a little German: Wie gehts dir heute Frau Peacock? (How are you doing today Ms. Peacock?) Knowing another language would benefit everyone.
I plan to enter into a career in law enforcement and for me it would be a huge advantage to have another language under my belt. The power of language and the ability to communicate is one of the major roles of police officers during their policing.
Language barriers cause many issues in todays fast pace society. If you were to go to one of Vancouver's public schools (which I did) you could see how problems arise from miscommunication of language. The problems aren't always for the ESL students but for the English speaking students, due to the fact that the extra time in class to explaining instructions to student through translation.
Our country is home to many different languages and many different culture which make or country so great. Language is the main vehicle of cultural transmission from one generation to the next. We use language to transmit our history to many people, and without it, the history we know today would be lost.
The power of language is an unique thing and is a common tool used, it can be found in every country around the world, even during the time of the first humans, they used sounds, and grunts, to communicate to each other. .
