Silver Park

There is a little secluded place, outside of the little town of Delft, which I call home. It is a place where I can get away from all of my problems and fears. The first time I was there was with my first love, Benny. He took me there on our first official date. We had named the place, Silver Park, because of the sparkle of the silver stars in the night sky, and the silver glisten of the gorgeous moon.
As you pull into a park you are surrounded by hundreds of full sized trees that tower over you like the Jolly Green Giant. To get to our spot you must walk on foot. There is a zigzagged trail you follow through the wooded area by Stoner Lake. As you get to the middle of the trail you must take another route to a small, secluded lake.
The lake is in the shape of a little peanut and surrounded by a little beach of sand where a bench, made out of logs from a dead pecan tree, and a fire pit, surrounded by basketball sized rocks, are located. Around the lake, about one fourth of a mile back, there is a variety of gigantic trees towering high into the sky. Amongst the trees there is a tiny abandoned log cabin built in the late 1800's by settlers.
During the summer nights you can hear the soothing sounds of the grasshoppers playing their songs, the cells of the wood bursting in the fire, and with someone, the sounds of each other's heartbeat. The glistening of the stars and moon reflect off the peanut shaped lake, creating a very romantic scene that soothes the soul. You can smell the burning wood, the scent of the pine trees, and sometimes even wet grass. It is a true breath of fresh are.
During the summer days it isn't too hot and always has a slight breeze. Above the lake you can see the white puffy clouds drifting across the baby blue sky. As you look around, you can see every color of the rainbow swirling throughout the woods. You can hear all types of birds whistling their graceful melodies, lulling you into a trance.
