As I reflect back on the events of the last couple of weeks and the State of the Union given by President Bush many thoughts come to my mind good, bad and alike. I hear the call to arms offered in the speech given by President Bush and all though I know its what has to be done, I wonder what we are getting are selves into. I wonder about the young men, my age that have to prepare themselves for war. Young men my age, with moms, dads, brothers, sister, best friends, and girlfriends, that are having to risk their lives in order to protect our why of life. However, I also try to see the good that has and is coming from this great tragedy. I think about what I heard my pastor say at church Wednesday night after the events and it really helps, he said "that one very bad event occurred on September 11, 2001, but hundreds maybe even thousands of good things happen on that same day." I think that is an amazing thought and that it is something that as our country tries to recover from this it can look at those good things and give them the spot light. If we are able to do this then we will totally ruin the plan of the terriost. They have tried to break us apart but I think that all they did was bring us closer together. .
The September 11, tragedy also provide a reason for our generation to care about this country again. I know that for me and I know for a lot of other guys, are willingness to fight for this country has changed. Before these events I never thought that I would go to war not even if I was drafted. I would have done whatever it took to stay out of it, but now I am willing to do what it takes to protect everything that this country represents. I was recently at a family reunion playing with my little cousins and I look in their eyes and decided that whatever we have to do even if it was to cost my life would be worth it if it meant that they grew up in a better world.
