Celia is teased by her classmates because she is a diabetic, chubby and has a funny name. .
Elizabeth's mother keeps telling Elizabeth to be nice to Celia, but Elizabeth knows that she would be teased herself, if it wasn't for Celia. .
Then one winter day the children are on their way home from school. .
They slide through a pipe and Elizabeth falls behind but hurries to reach up with her friends. When she starts sliding, Celia calls her name, begging her to wait for her. Elizabeth doesn't pay attention to Celia, but hurries out of the pipe. Celia stops half-way through the tunnel, starts crying and the classmates start teasing Elizabeth. Then it snaps. Elizabeth runs back to Celia and screams at her and shakes her. Celia starts hiccupping with fear and Elizabeth thinks for a moment that she has killed her. Then she runs back to the school to hide, but is soon found by her parents. .
They get very angry with her. Celia survives and forgives Elizabeth. Elizabeth, however, never forgives Celia, for having showed her the darkness that is frustration itself. .
