             Many authors write creative interesting stories but are these stories completely made up or are they historically accurate? The Count of Montecristo is one of these books. Is it historically accurate?.
             "The book begins on the twenty-fourth day of February in the year 1815- (Pinkmonkey.com). Historically during this time, "Napoleon Bonaparte abdicated and was exiled to the isle of Elba in the Mediterranean Sea. He soon escaped, reached France, and marched through Paris. He regained control, this is known as the Hundred Days, but the allies would not have him. Napoleon decided to make the first move, which eventually led to the battle at Waterloo where he was defeated on the eighteenth of June in 1815. He was then exiled to the island of Saint Helena an island in the South Atlantic where he later died on the fifth of May in 1821- (Napoleon Bonaparte). "Soon after Napoleon's abdication Louis XVIII became king of France, when Napoleon returned to power in 1815 Louis fled to Belgium later the same year he was restored to the throne after Napoleon's final defeat at Waterloo- (Louis XVIII). "In the book the readers are told that Napoleon is in exile at Elba and that Louis XVIII is in power. The book also talks about Napoleon's escape from Elba and his return to power called the Hundred Days. Also that Napoleon is removed from power and that Louis XVIII regains control of France. The book is accurate about the leaders of France at this time- (The Count of Montecristo). .

"Under the rule of Louis XVIII the government of France was a monarchy- (Louis XVIII). "A monarchy is a form of government in which one person has the hereditary right to rule as head of state during his or her lifetime; the term is also applied to the state so governed- (Monarchy).
