Here in the southeastern part of the United States the way of life is different than all other parts of the country. Teenagers in the south tend to interact with one another in different ways than other teens throughout the country. The friendliness and extreme generosity that people have here makes it such a great place to live.
Being friendly and having hospitality is one thing that you have to adjust to when you visit the south. Coming from the north, where people tend to not be as friendly, it makes it difficult to interact with people. Just walking down the street and having a complete stranger say hi to you and start up a conversation is not as common in other parts of the U.S. as it is here in the south. While living in the south these past few months has been a great experience for me. It has made me feel somewhat important to society where as in the north, where I lived for 18 years, it seems as if I were just another person. To go along with this friendliness people in the south are not as self-conscious as others throughout the country. They don't take things so personally and in the wrong way. Mostly everyone in the north is so self -conscious it makes no sense. If you say something to someone in north that might not be politically correct they take it to heart and they might try and get back at you in some way. But here in the south if you say something to someone they might not even care, or they might turn it around and make a joke out of it. Another thing that makes the south different is the accent that people have. Learning new words such as y"all and cuss is a key to understanding the southern way. The pronunciations of words such as ball and water is another thing that one has to get used to when coming to the south. By having people be so kind it makes it that much easier to meet new people and make new friends. .
One way that teenagers interact with one another differently than the rest of the country is through parties.
