George Reid was born in Scotland, 1845, and moved to Australia in 1852 with the rest of his family. He went for premier in 1894 and then became premier of Sydney. He introduced; a higher form of tax, land laws and social legislation. He was then elected for parliament in 1901, and formed a coalition in 1904. Unfortunately, he was defeated in 1905 by another labour representative group. In 1908 he left parliamentary and in 1909 was knighted. In 1910 he became Australia's first representative to London and held his position until his death in 1918.
Edmund Barton was born in Sydney, 1849. .
Later on he joined the Legislative Assembly in 1879 and became "speaker" in 1883. He then toured New South Wales promoting support for the Federation. He was a representative for his own government and ran for the position in 1901. After being successful, he was stated as the first Australian Prime Minister and the minister for external affairs. During his time as Prime Minister, he introduced many machines to help the government. He was knighted in 1903, and he retired in September 1903 after he had been appointed "Justice of the High Court". He remained in that position until his death in 1903. .
Alfred Deakin was born in Melbourne, 1856. .
He graduated from Melbourne University in 1877, and then became a journalist. He later stood for Victorian Parliament, and was elected in 1879. He replaced Edmund Barton as Prime Minister when he went for the High Court in 1903. He became Prime Minister again in 1905, with the Labour Party. He started Industrial Arbitration (peace-making) and social welfare, by introducing old age pensions. This ended when Labour withdrew its support. He was re-elected for a third time in 1909, but was defeated by the Labour party and retired in the year of 1910.
Henry Parkes was born in England, 1816.
He arrived in Australia in 1839, and immediately went into a business. He started a newspaper.
