Ask someone what their best time in a bar or other public place is, and their answer will probably be a description of a time with their friends and family. But this does not mean that the only time we venture to public places is with friends/family. Unfortunately, being alone in a bar can be rather uncomfortable, which in turn can make it difficult to meet new people. And on the other hand, meeting new people is probably the main reason people go the bar alone. If it were possible to know at least one friend anywhere, it would let a person feel more relaxed. And that is just what this Jack Daniel's advertisement is trying to imply; that a companion isn't really needed, as long as Jack Daniel's is known.
The advertisement itself is relatively simple. The top quarter of the page shows a picture of a busy bar. In this bar, no one is alone and everyone is slim and attractive. The people who are drinking Jack Daniel's are engaged in conversations with members of the opposite sex. This is trying to show that this whiskey makes people more sexually appealing, and that it gives people something in common. Unfortunately, even if somebody cares that someone else is drinking Jack Daniel's over Crown Royal (or any other brand of whiskey), it won't be enough to start a conversation. .
Just below this picture is the message "In any bar in America, you know someone by name." One thing interesting about this is that the word, "someone" is in letters almost twice the size as those in the rest of the sentence. This emphasizes the entire phrase that you know someone anywhere you go. This slogan is trying to imply that someone can be seen as being popular, knowing someone anywhere. .
On the very bottom, taking up over half of the advertisement is a picture with the focus being on a glass of whiskey and ice, and a bottle of Jack Daniel's. The clarity of the bottle and glass is very high, while on the many other bottles of alcohol in the background the focus is blurry.
