Antarctica

The world is surely warming up and scientists are founding out is it due to human activity like causing pollution but if the Earth keeps on warming up then the ice caps may melt and cause the sea level rise due to the amount of water that is frozen there which is about 68% of the world's freshwater reserve. Also the global warming may cause parts of ice shelves to break off and cause loss of habitat for animals. Ozone depletion is caused by lots of things and one of the causes is the production of CFCs that ruins the ozone layer. The ozone layer being ruined may make holes or it will make it thinner and this will cause more Ultra-Violet radiation to be let through and the radiation can kill the Phytoplankton, which plays a very important in the food chain of Antarctica and the decrease in numbers of Phytoplankton may disrupt the whole food chain and cause the animals to die and extinct which may cause important information that could help the humans to be lost. Over fishing is a big issue in Antarctica because in the 19th century fishing Antarctica was very popular and this caused massive lose of seals, whales and fish and some of the species nearly became extinct and we could have lost interesting facts that could help us. Over the past 50 years, sealing and whaling have been almost totally banned and can only be done for research purposes and only some countries are allowed to do this. Fishing is still an issue as fisherman catch large quantities and if the fishes decrease in massive numbers then this may cause the food chain to break and a lot of species of animals may die. Last of all, tourism is an issue as the amounts of tourists are increasing and this may disturb the animals in ways. Some of the Antarctica's species of animals have nearly become extinct due to human activity. Antarctica is one of the places or even the last place that can help scientists understand how the Earth is changing and why.
