Samson

It could even possibly be viewed as the assurance of G-d's ability to create miracles. .
The second part to Judges 13:2 mentions how Samson's parents do not have any children at all. This is vital to the overall Samson story because of the condensation that occurs with birth order. Being the first born male within a family automatically guarantees that one will be sole inheritor of the family's wealth, position, and power within a given society. In most cultures, being first born is everything. Therefore, if Samson's parents were to have had children before his birth, then it would have possibly decreased Samson's overall status in life.
Similar to other stories within the bible, Samson's mother is visited by a stranger who is an angel of the Lord in disguise. This angel delivers the message that they will conceive a child that will be a, "Nazirite of G-d" and will begin the deliverance of the people from the Philistines (Judges 13:5). Along with this message is a warning of steps that Samson's mother should follow in order to have the child. This type of two-fold message is a common occurrence. As exemplified within the concept of the covenant, G-d is known for his duality. Therefore all blessings, such as the conception of a child, come with restrictions. These restrictions or warnings are given in order to ensure that people stay both obedient and fearful of G-d. If these warnings were not attached to G-d's messages, then there is the risk that people would either take advantage of G-d or choose to worship another G-d.
By telling Samson's mother that she must, " Drink no wine or strong drink, and eat nothing unclean,"(Judges 13:4) it is to ensure that the message of a child to come is taken seriously. If the people who receive the message are serious about accepting it, then they will follow all of the necessary steps set forth by the messenger.
Although Samson's mother is visited by the messenger and given the message that they will conceive a child, Mano"ah must see it for himself to fully believe it.
