Being single is not as lonely as people think. Three years ago, I broke up with my girlfriend and thought I would be alone and lonely; however, I was not in that situation. After my friends and my family knew that I broke up with my girlfriend, they started to call me almost everyday, asked me to go out for dinner and visited me frequently. I was really impressed that when I needed someone to accompany me. They were there for me. Then, I told myself that I should stop being depressed and begin concerning myself with the ones who really care for me. Thus, being single for three years has actually given me a chance to spend more time with my friends and my family. Moreover, I have also experienced and learnt how to enjoy my single life.
"At home, you are dependent upon your parents. Once you leave home, you are dependent upon your friends." From this Chinese proverb, we can see that friends are as important as parents. Unfortunately, I didn't realize how important friends are to me until I broke up with my girlfriend. At the time my friends knew I broke up with my girlfriend, some of them gave me calls, some of them came over my place to visit me, and some of them asked me to join their activities. I knew they were all worried about me; they were trying to comfort me, and I was really appreciative. Now, almost every Friday night, my friends and I go to watch a movie in the theatre, or play pool, or even just have a chat in a coffee shop. .
Many people, somehow, treat their lover better than their family, even though their family have the closest relationship (the blood relation) with them. I was one of those kinds of people too. The time I spent with my girlfriend, I put all my focus on her. I called her almost everyday, and I always thought many subjects to talk with her; however, I never called my family because I didn't know what I should say, so I always waited till they called me.
