For many years the legalization of marijuana has been up for debate and I would like to lay this argument to rest through my paper. First I would like to state the first argument for the legalization. Marijuana, being what is commonly called a mild-hallucinogen actually allows people to in effect, "think for themselves." This process of thinking for oneself is priceless. In fact, thinking for oneself is the first step to "waking up" one's mind. The common misconception believed by the masses of American people is that they are actually awake. But in reality these masses are going through life "asleep." I am not saying that by smoking pot the country will begin to think itself and wake up. I am simply stating a fact that has been observed by many philosophers of Psychology, Sociology, and especially Phrenology have seen. Marijuana has some psycho-active chemical, which once it hits the patients brain, opens doors of perception which, in most Americans, remain shut throughout most of their days and even lives. .
The effects of marijuana being legalized would be considerably well worth while from the secular humanistic standpoint. The majority of Americans live by this as an ethical code of conduct without ever realizing it. What we would see as a result of this legalization would be; First an increase of people using marijuana. This would occur via the subconscious belief of the masses that is, " The government says it's true. It must be so." Second, a whole slew of events would be set off as a kind of snowball reaction. These would begin with people thinking on the whole much more about things that they wouldn't normally think about. An increase in individuality could be seen, as marijuana would be used as a kind of substitute for alcohol, and is not so much the social drug as alcohol is. The number of violent crimes, car accidents involving serious injury or death would decrease as a result of people substituting alcohol for marijuana.
