Jim P, a fellow co-worker told me a brief dramatizing story one time about when his ex-wives husband had, physically abused his son Justin. So when the idea of this assignment came about, I asked him if he would allow me to interview him and get a more in-depth feeling about what had happened. I asked him to start from the beginning and tell me what went on.
After Jim and his wife (Kelley) got divorced, she remarried (Aaron) and had full custody of their son Justin. Jim and Justin spent time with each other on the weekends, playing catch, going to movies, dinner, etc. Well one weekend after coming home from a movie, Jim received a message on his answering machine from Justin's teacher at school. She left a message saying, "I've been trying to get a hold of Justin's mother and can't, so I called you in hopes of catching you at home. Last week Justin came into class with a small limp when he walked. So I asked what was wrong, but he replied, "nothing". I asked to look at his leg to see if he had sprained his ankle or something. At that time he was wearing shorts and I couldn't help but notice real dark bruises up and down his inner thigh. I"m really concerned and thought I would ask you about them before I jumped to any conclusions." .
Jim ran to his son and very calmly asked if every thing at home was all right. Justin said yeah, every things fine. He then asked to see the bruises on the inside of his thigh. Justin started crying and showed his dad the marks. Jim said they looked like bruises from someone grabbing your leg with their hands. He asked his son if anyone has been touching him in places they shouldn't be. Justin told his dad; Aaron has been forcing him into the bathroom with him and touching his private places. When Justin would try to get away from Aaron he would grab and pin Justin on the ground. Aaron told him, if he every told anyone he would hurt him and his mother. .
At the time no one knew but Aaron had been doing this for months.
