Monique's heart pounds as she casts panicky looks, around the classroom. She doesn't recognize the professor, she doesn't know any of the student's and she can't even figure out what the subject is. In front of her is a test. At the last minute her roommate awakens her. It's only another anxiety dream. The very fact that dreams like Monique's are common suggests that college is a stressful situation for young people. The causes of this stress can be academic, financial, and personal.
First of all, academic stress is common in college. For example, you could have a lot of classes and it could lead to having lots of homework which could be stressful. Studying for a test can also be stressful, especially if you do it at the last minute. Students put pressure themselves to excel, sometimes more than parents do. Students are afraid of what their parents might do if they get average grades. Students often worry about what's on the test and they wonder if the test is easy or hard. Students worry about passing or failing they're class. Some students worry about what they're teachers are going to be like are they going to be nice or unpleasant to deal with. .
Second, college can be very expensive student's have figure out how to pay for school. Some student's have to work to put themselves thorough college, others take out loans, or apply for financial assistance, and some apply for scholarships to pay for college. Students have to buy books for classes which are very expensive; some books are $60 or more depending on the book. Students also have to buy supplies for they're classes. Such as, pencils, paper, book bags etc. Depending on the number of classes supplies and books can be very costly.
Third, along with academic and financial worries, the students face personal pressures.
Students deal with the personal pressures, because some students have to work full-time and go to school which makes it hard to find time to study or do homework.
