Braveheart is an ever-present entity in the world of cinema. The films SPR and Braveheart show strikingly similar, yet different aspects of war. Both are epic tales of love lost and how the circumstances surrounding that loss contribute to the success of the film as a whole. Although both movies are highly acclaimed movies that have not only proved themselves in the arena of critiques, Saving Private Ryan is a better movie than Braveheart because SPR has a plot that is genius seems to appeal to everyone who loves someone, the action is more dynamic, the visual effect are breath-taking considering the time period, and the sound effects are "top of the line".
A good action movie usually involves a fairly straightforward story that doesn't confuse the audience with unessassary suspense. It has good guys versus bad guys, where most disputes are resolved by using physical force. When talking about Saving Private Ryan, the plot is pure Hollywood- risking the lives of seven men to save one. To watch all the violence in the opening scene of the film not only leaves a mental image engraved into the minds of all, but it's also a very good strategy to engage indefinite attention to the film. It's also a guarantee to keep the emotions pondering over it for hours afterwards. So extremely effective, it displays the meaningless of war itself. The cast could not be better. Spielberg has masterfully recreated the bondage between the soldiers in the squad. To get a peek into their confused minds and tortured souls; their personalities are put forth. And to make the plot more exquisite, this makes it extremely hard (emotionally) to see them die right before your eyes for nothing and no one. For instance in the last battle scene where Mellish is grappling with an enemy soldier in the upstairs room of a bombed-out French home, a knife is pushed slowly into Mellish's chest. Upham stands on the staircase where shell shock and fear paralyzes him such that he cannot lift a finger to help.
