If corruption in the Nepalese government is surpressed, democracy can survive, and the Maoist rebellion can be stopped. The rebellion is disrupting the efforts of the American Himalayan Foundation to help the people in the mountains, and must be stopped. The people who live in the Himalayan mountain area are some of the poorest in the world. The Maoists attacks that are carried on there destroy the little that the people have. The violence frightens off aid workers and tourists who were once willing to come to Nepal. There is no way for the mountain people to escape the attacks and they have no alternative to being killed. All this must be stopped in order for democracy to survive and Maoists dictatorship to be terminated.
The people of the mountain villages have virtually nothing . Fighting in their villages destroys the little the people have and the necessary resources the mountains provide for life. 10% of the population live in the mountains in Nepal. Mountains provide half of the water that humans use. Destruction of the mountains causes an economic disaster for everyone, not just mountain people. Imagine what people would do without water. There would be no swimming, no water fountains, total dehydration, the human race could not exist. Mountain life is a tough life to live. All of the people in the mountains live in poverty. There is no grocery stores, no shopping malls. Most wear rags, suffer through the harsh weather, and eat whatever they can find. Most mountain people are illiterate, and uneducated. Children are unsupervised, and the elderly do not receive the care they need. The AHF fights for equal treatment of the minority mountain people. Murdering the people is not equal treatment.
The attacks in the Himalayan mountains frighten off aid workers and tourists.
