A society living in harmony, no problems, one ruler who would be for the rich and for the poor. This is an example of Plato's view of a perfect society or what we know as a Utopia. Even though this outlook was originated by one of the greatest Philosophers it is nearly impossible for it to be attained in the world today. As stated in the book Plato's view of a democracy (Government Present today) is the rule of a wealthy few. Why does Plato view this as a bad form of government? The leader of a society is rich, therefore he only makes laws and or rules that apply to his type of people (the rich.) An example of this happening today would be the president of the U.S. If he has a lot of money he will be heard by the citizens of the U.S. The more money he has the more people he will reach. Therefore the candidate with less money will not be heard. Why because his Ideas are not worth hearing? .
How about Donald Trump? He maybe running for the President of the U.S. in the next election. He is loaded with money, but are his thoughts of how to run the country more important than someone who doesn't have money? Another example can be schools.
Nowadays you have to have money in order to be heard. If you can't show the money you can't be heard. That's what's happening with our schools also. For example, You have to pay more for a better education, and the better you"re education the more successful with money, and life in general. It's like a domino effect, if you can start out with the money and pay your way to the top, the more money you will make, and the patter continues. Hence the development of a rich family to a wealthy family.
With every advantage in life their is a disadvantage with it also. Take the opposite of rich. Poor. In a democracy where do these people stand? Are their needs and wants any different than the needs and wants of the rich? What makes them less that human? Are there ligament answers to why the poor should be treated different from the rich? No.
