Fifth period rolls by, and I walk into my graphic arts class and I see everyone sitting down in their seats quietly and the teacher in a state of shock. The class had never been this calm and quiet. Everyone is glued to the TV, the Fox News Channel is on and a message goes across the screen saying "Terrorist Attack Against America!" I was shocked, the news anchors go on to say that terrorists had hijacked three planes and went on three separate suicide missions. Two of the planes crashed into both buildings of the World Trade Center, and the other was heading for Washington D.C., but crashed landed in a field near D.C. It was horrifying, I couldn't believe what I was hearing. The rest of the school day was really weird. Everyone kept to themselves, the halls were quiet, all you could hear was the footsteps of kids walking. It felt like it wasn't real, like it was a dream.
Once I got home from school, I hadn't heard anything from what was happening in a couple hours, so I had no idea what was going on. Do they know who committed these acts? How many people were killed today? What are we going to do? I turned on the TV and found out that the two World Trade Center buildings had collapsed as a result of the planes crashing into them. The way the buildings were constructed, it couldn't handle a hit like that from an airplane with full fuel tanks. I couldn't even imagine what those people who were still in the building and who were still alive could be thinking has the buildings started to collapse. The people who were on the floors above where the plane had crashed below were trapped and couldn't get to the lower levels. They were showing people jumping from like fifty floors up to their deaths. What could these people be thinking, they know their not going to make it, it's the end for them. New York had become the battleground and ground zero looked like a million dollar movie set. Dust and smoke covered New York for weeks.
